The Music Group sang at the Easter Day Family Eucharist. This
year it was a little different. In addition to our usual spot when we sang
“Lamb of God” with – “Were You There” (a piece we used at the last United
Service), we sang at the beginning of the service as well. In fact it was
really an ‘introit’. We processed in as normal but we remained standing and sang “See
What a Morning”. Again this was a
piece we had sung before, but this time it was a little different. I found a
new release for the song which is in four part harmony, a much better version
than previously, with much more body to the setting and much more meaningful.
It is set for the piano but Andrew suggested that he should play it on the
organ, which as it turned out was a much better option and much more of a
pleasure to sing. We all felt it was a very good Easter Day service, especially
when the sopranos sang a descant for “Christ Be Our Light”. It certainly gave
more feeling to the hymn and some very nice comments were passed. We are now looking forward to the next couple of months when we
have a couple of new pieces in the pipeline. These are of a contrasting
nature and very nice to sing. I am trying to continue with the younger ones having a special
spot in the Family Eucharists. So far this has been successful and we have
joined with them in the pieces that they have sung. Hopefully we will be able
to build on this and they can have a spot all to themselves. If anyone has a special favourite they would like us to sing,
either from our own repertoire or something of their own choice, please
approach any member of the group. John B |
